ok I have an annoying problem with my IDE.
my <insert whatever it's called> isn't working anymore. when you create an event handler in vs.net after you type the += or if you are inheriting from an interface, vs.net will show a tooltip that says "press tab to insert the event handler" or stubs.
I recently upgraded my home IDE from pro to EA. but now this feature does not work... any thoughts?

What OS?
It is a good idea to wipe your disk and reinstall everything (after you back-up your projects) every six months or so.

it's on xp pro.
I cannot reinstall. way too much on here, divided across too many disks.

I got to the point where I have one disk with a pair of partitions or two disks.
One side has the OS and all the applications, the other side has all the data. If I need to reinstall I wipe out the system side and reinstall everything and my data is right where I want it.

it all started with that kind of setup. I used to have .net 2002 EA. then when 2003 came out, I got the professional edition. a little while later my disk's fat table became unusable, so i had to get a new disk. all of my program data is installed to a mass storage drive, and the base os was installed on a much smaller, much quicker disk. my last image i had was when I had vs.net 2002 so that when I got a new disk, I restored the previous image of the disk. when I tried to uninstall 2002 it failed because I had already uninstalled it before the drive crapped out, and installed 2k3 pro where it used to be(I still have 2002 on my list of software in my add/remove prog's util). attempts to reinstall 2k2 and then uninstall it also failed because it would only let me reinstall it, and that failed to install a legitimate usable setup... so I reinstall 2k3 pro and everything works like a dandy. that is until I decide that I want the EA edition (d*mn the luck). now I install 2k3 EA and my auto insert doesn't work again. (I had trouble with the pro doing the same thing for a while after restoring the disk). last time I combed through my registry and removed any key or value that contained visual studio or .net (it took a long time :S ) then reinstalled pro and it worked. this is a little different in that I uninstalled pro b4 I installed EA, so it shouldn't have that problem, but it does....
anywho, if anyone knows how to fix this (there's got to be a setting somewhere to fix this) let me know.

that's happened to me as well. I think re-installing vs.net fixed it though. either that or uninstalling, then re-installing did the trick. I cant remember.

You don't Back-Upyour files? Get another computer with XP Pro from a friend network them and move your files over, then wipe you disk and reinstall everything.

I run RAID 5 on system critical disks now.
I have about 5 different computers running here at the home and run several different types of servers off of them. I RAID all drives that could be most devastating on disk failure, and image those who's contents I'm just too lazy to reinstall everything on about 2,3 times a year. some items are redundant across servers also, so I'm not worried about "loosing" any data, just time and money.
